Ge is lake above fire — water boiling on the flame, an order transforming. Its difficulty is timing: move too early and you are unready; too late and others move for you. On your own day — not just any day, but the day you yourself have reached. Courage and caution must arrive together; lacking either, nothing works.
The lines distinguish the tiger's change from the leopard's: the great one changes like a tiger, patterns distinct; the noble one like a leopard, spots forming by degrees. Both are good — what fails is the small man changing his face: a new surface, an unmoved interior. Judge change by its grain, not its statements.
